Players in the waste industry have an opportunity to shape the detail of the new National Waste Policy, according to an article from Nick Harford of Equilibrium OMG published in WME’s December edition.
The article discusses that while the development of the policy has been laborious, the real hard work will be in the implementation. Governments expect to have a comprehensive implementation plan and timeline for all 16 key policy strategies by the middle of 2010. Given that proposals need input and approval from all States, it means that practically industry players only have until late April or early May to get their ideas on the table.
